{ Characters: Mrs. Judson }

Basil's long-suffering landlady, she is the keeper of all things tidy and in an orderly fashion. Not so when she lives with the worst tenant in all of London! She is naturally the mouse form of Mrs. Hudson with a plump figure and dressed in a maid's attire. Despite a short role in the film, her presence is warm and pleasant. She is a caring individual, putting on a motherly act towards Olivia Flaversham and making sure her stay is a comfortable one. While she respects Basil's work and privacy, the detective tends to disrespect objects that belong to her, namely furniture items. A perfect example is the scene of him shooting and destroying her good pillows; the poor dear just can't seem to win with this mouse! The fact is hidden somewhere behind the dialogue and action, but the viewers can easily see that Basil appreciates all that she does for him and his guests.

Memorable Quotes:

  • "Oh, my! You poor dear! You must be chilled to the bone! Oh ho ho ho, but I know just the thing. Let me fetch you a pot of tea and some of my fresh cheese crumpets."

  • "My good pillows! Mr. Basil! How many times have I told you--"

  • "Now...there's nothing to be afraid of, my dear."
