The Great Mouse Detective

Queen Mousetoria Color Model Cel

Description from Heritage Auctions: The Great Mouse Detective Queen Mousetoria Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1986).

"The queen takes delivery of an automated doppelganger in this scene approaching the climactic final showdown of this animated Disney feature. Queen Mousetoria, who was clearly based on Victoria, measures 7" x 7" on a 16 field laminated production cel. The cel is over a print background for presentation purposes. You can find a similar pose around 1:04:35 mark in the film though, model is slightly different and was likely made from early animation drawings. Colors and features have changed as the items she holds which are in opposite hands and even the number of fingers on her hands. Because of it, this is quite likely the only one of its kind in existence. The art is framed under glass with a mat opening of 10" x 12" in an 18" x 22" frame with a Certificate of Authenticity in a sleeve on the back. Condition is Fine. Frame is sold as-is."

Playing the movie and skipping to that same scene to view the comparison, this cel really is rare since it was never used. Here is a screenshot as close to it as possible. The rare cel at Heritage Auctions has already sold in 2019, so this was just a fun way to see the two and compare the results!
