Remembering Barrie Ingham on his birthday today (February 10, 2023), this is a short clip of the cold opening to The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes episode, "The Moabite Cypher" (S02E09). Barrie (voice of Basil from The Great Mouse Detective) starred as Dr John Thorndyke with his assistant Dr Jervis (Peter Sallis). Although, the episode aired March 26, 1973, thirteen years before The Great Mouse Detective, Barrie was very much like a human version of Basil of Baker Street!
